Machame route - 6 or 7 days

The Machame route offers stunning scenery and interesting, diverse landscapes. The route approaches the summit from the Southwest of the mountain and descends via the Mweka route.

 

Hikers will be rewarded with views of the Shira Plateau and the Lava Tower. Following a climb of the Barranco wall, the route traverses below Kilimanjaro's southern ice field before completing the summit push ready for the sunrise at Uruhru Peak (5895m). 

 

Climbers will sleep at designated campsites along the route. The Machame route can be completed in 6 or 7 days depending on your schedule and budget. The positioning of the campsites offers great acclimatisation resulting in the high success rate of this route.
